Many of us are weighed down by deep dark secrets that we carry because we feel awkward and embarrassed. When I was boy in order to keep us in line my mother would say what’s done in the dark will soon come to light; and I would think the same would be true for what’s kept in the dark. Things have a way of finding their way to the surface no matter how good we think we are at hiding them. People are smarter than you think. Through a game of “Which of these things are not like the other!” one can sense something is wrong with the picture. You reveal it through your actions and emotions. In my book Why Ruin Another Life, the character Paul D has a deep dark secret that he tries to keep hidden. But, it is clear that he is emotionally affected by keeping the secret. It just goes to prove: you can run but you can’t hide!
